A personal goal that also nourishes my artwork is to spend more Intentional time outside.
My family and I love spending time together in nature. It has always been a place of holy sanctuary. . In the past, I got it into my head that I wasn't "doing it" right. I wasn't sketching or painting enough outside. But I recently realized that I want to Actually enjoy my time and spend less time being critical of how I am showing up. If I have my watercolors and sketchbook at hand, plus the ability to use them, then yes. I will celebrate and honor the privilege of working on location. BUT if I don't have my sketchbook + pencils, or if I am with my family, then I will relax into the experience and enjoy time SPENT. Both practices have so much potential. Neither one is better than the other. . . . Also, If I don't have time to sketch while there, it is usually a perfect time to capture photographs for inspiration and rejuvenation alike at a later date. #kathryneide #whataview #trojanpark #lifeofapainter #femaleartist #artisticramblings #showingup #onlythismomentisreal

I have been narrowing my focus, in my vision for my futur and my artwork.
For years I was hesitant to do this because I was afraid of missing out. But in reality, it has been so dang liberating. I realize now that there was an option paralysis I was experiencing. "So many options, how to choose?!" By focusing, I am able to experiment more and dive deeper with ideas, concepts, and techniques. |
